LEICA LOVE PROJECT
SHARE THE LOVE WITH ORBIS
Through hundred years of evolution, photography is now a vital part of our daily life. It is a container for countless stories, a medium for us to share and communicate. Beyond the boundary of race, it pulls us close as a human race. Apart from technical equipment such as camera and lens, our eyes are the most essential element – giving form to genuine feelings and creativity. Initiated by Leica, the renowned German manufacturer, Love Project Leica Photo Gallery sees Wing Shya as its Creative Director. Taking ‘love’ as its theme, contributors from various media were invited to capture their thoughts with a camera, in order to draw attention to the under-privileged population within the society.

Celebrity contributors include TK (SILLY THING founder), Maggie Q (actress), Suitman a.k.a Young Kim (artist and designer), Sean K (stylist), Yi Zhou (artist), Danny Chau (fine art printer and photographer), Dennis Chan (Qeelin chairman and designer), Ronald Cheng (Actor) and Shawn Yue (Actor). The eleven art work will be auctioned for charity Orbis, in aid of sight patients in Hong Kong and China. Starting at Hong Kong dollar 10,000, more details and auction form are available on Schmidt Marketing official website. A limited edition of four ‘LOVE Album’, made with photography as exhibited and cased in a handmade leather album made in Germany, is a collector’s item. Priced Hong Kong dollar 2,600, all profit will be donated to Orbis.

Leica LOVE Project photography exhibition is now showing at IFC (Central, Hong Kong) Podium level one, Oval Atrium, until 24th October 2010. It will also be shown at ExI.T in Causeway Bay (Hong Kong, from 26th October to 11th November) and Pure Studio 52 (Chai Wan, Hong Kong, 1st to 30th November).
